Darwin – On the Origin of Zombie Species

There’s a great scientific article that was posted today over on ScienceBlogs involving evolution and zombies.  According to the article, Charles Darwin was the first to recognize that zombie “reproduction” results in a process of descent with modification in a way analogous to that of non-undead species. Zombies need not reproduce sexually, because reproduction is produced by the zombie bite, in which prions mutate and create different zombie types as the mutations pass from zombie to human to zombie…

The article goes on to describe the evolution from the first zombie type,  North American zombie (Z. romero), all the way to today’s Zumbi crimsoni, which are known for their speed and flexibility.

ScienceBlogs also has a great article on how to survive the zombie apocalypse using advice from Charles Darwin.
